. Introduction: Cooked Mid-Day-Meal Programme has been started in Assam with effect from January, 2005.The State Govt. has transferred the implementation of Mid-Day Meal Scheme from Director, Elementary Education, Assam to SSA, Assam w.e.f. 01-01- 2014. The scheme of Mid-Day Meal has now been running under the direct supervision of SSA, Assam w.e.f. 01-01-2014. The MDM Programme is being implemented in Assam for all the children studying in classes:- I-VIII in Govt/Provincialized, Govt. Aided/Local Body/Recognised/TG managed schools,RST/KGBV. The Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme, now known as Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM-POSHAN), is a government program in Assam aimed at providing free, nutritious meals to school children. The scheme aims to combat hunger, malnutrition, and low school attendance. In Assam, the MDM is implemented by Samagra Shiksha Axom (SSA). The daily routine involves the preparation and serving of hot cooked meals, typically between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM on school working days.
